What is Human Growth Hormone ?

You must be knowing that the body secretes many exocrine and endocrine hormones. Infact the body runs with the co-ordination of two important systems - Central Nervous System and Endocrine System. If anyone of them fail to function inappropriately, then there will be imbalance in the life.

Some of the Endocrine hormones are Insulin, Glucagon, ACTH, Oestrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, HGH, Thyroxine etc. HGH stands for Human Growth Hormone. As the name suggests, this hormone is important for the growth of the body.
Human Growth Hormone is synthesized and secreted by the cells of the Anterior Pituitary Gland. The Pituitary gland is situated inside our skull bone between the two cerebral hemispheres.

HGH is important throughout the life of an individual. During the growing stage, it helps in proper growth and development of the body, while in the adulthood, it is responsible for energy, vitality, muscular growth and sexual functions. Deficiency of HGH may lead to short stature and many other diseases.

Like many other hormones, this hormone also decreases as one advances in life and by 60 years, HGH in the body becomes half. And so to maintain the proper functioning of the body, your doctor may prescribe you HGH in various forms like tables ( Genf20) , spray, injections, patches etc.
